Who Makes You Nosey?

In the run up to our annual Fin-k Tank conference, we held an online poll asking you who you believed were your biggest competitive threat.

Your top 9 were:

1.      Hargreaves Lansdown

2.      Nutmeg

3.      Fidelity

4.      Interactive Investor

5.      Aviva/Standard Life/AJ Bell

6.      Moneyfarm/Moo.la

1st was Hargreaves Lansdown. No surprises here. With assets of £79 billion today, they remain the one to beat. Next up was Nutmeg, the most-established robo which everyone loves to analyse and critique. With estimated client numbers of circa 52,00 as at Q317, can they reach the parts other providers cant? Third on the list was Fidelity. The big US brand which has the long-term funding and pedigree to make bigger waves than it does.

Clocking in at 4th position is the acquisitive Interactive Investor which is pursuing its fixed fee pricing model and improving its pension capability. Tied in 5th position are Aviva, Standard Life and AJ Bell Youinvest. We’re going to hold off testing AJ Bell this time with consumers as there are new developments set to land later in the year which we’ll be looking at in January prior to the publication of our Online Investing report. And last but not least are Moneyfarm and Moo.la, tied in 6th place.

We’re going to take these 9 brands (excluding AJ Bell) and test them with consumers in a series of deep dive interviews and focus groups throughout November. We’ll be asking them to rate and review the user journey and will feedback the results and pecking order in our 6th December Fin-k Tank event.

Join us at Fin-k Tank on 6th December for a deep dive into the latest from the collision of investments with fintech – here’s the full agenda. Tickets cost £299 and can be bought here, or please contact Emma on 02073393056, or email emma@boringmoney.co.uk
