Consumer votes: an essential measurement

4,000 members of the public cast over 15,000 votes in April and May. In the words of our Mackay, CEO of Boring Money:

“It’s really important to have investment awards which showcase the collective experience of thousands of investors, rather than a small panel of judges with limited practical experience of the services being judged.

“Research tells us that an increasing number of people turn to their friends or media outlets for advice about finance and investments. We are more likely to trust each other than big institutions.

“I’m particularly pleased to have included this year an award which recognises the service which is best for beginners. This is a key and difficult challenge to address and we need more innovation and focus in this space.”

A great year for socially responsible investing

Socially responsible or impact investing was recognised in two awards, with L&G Investment Management winning the Best Marketing Campaign Award for their Own Your World campaign, and Nutmeg securing runner-up in the Innovation Award for its socially responsible portfolios.

“We know that people care about this subject and this is now a mainstream story. 62% of women investors and 45% of male investors are interested and want to learn more. We need better storytelling and clarity, and both L&G and Nutmeg have led the field with their work this year,” says Holly Mackay.
