Boring Money’s latest report “Advised Investor Report 2026 - Satisfaction and Trust in an evolving AI world” finds that AI use among advised clients rises sharply with wealth, raising questions for advisers about how, and why, their wealthiest clients are turning to AI alongside professional advice.
The report shows that 9% of advised clients now use AI regularly to inform their financial decisions, and that usage is markedly higher among wealthier clients.
Among advised clients with £500,000–£1 million in investable assets, 34% have used AI for financial support. That figure rises to 44% among those with more than £1 million, meaning close to half of the wealthiest advised clients have already turned to AI tools alongside their adviser relationship.
The research also points to what advised clients across the wealth spectrum want AI to do. 63% say they would be comfortable using AI to monitor their investments and flag changes, spot tax optimisation opportunities, or highlight potential portfolio risks or opportunities, suggesting clients see a role for AI as an ongoing sounding-board, as opposed to an outright decision-making tool.
Boring Money CEO Holly Mackay comments:
What this means for advisers
With engagement with AI tools highest among clients with the greatest levels of investable assets, the findings raise questions about how AI is beginning to sit alongside the traditional adviser relationship. Clients may increasingly be using AI to cross-check or supplement the information and advice they receive, particularly around areas such as portfolio monitoring, tax efficiency and risk flagging.
For advisers, this creates a new set of questions: whether their clients are using AI, what they are using it for and how openly that use is discussed within the advice relationship. As AI becomes another source of financial information for clients, the research suggests advisers will increasingly need to understand how it fits into the way their clients make financial decisions.
