The Boring Money Best Buy Awards 2025

In their eighth year, the Boring Money Best Buy Awards continue to be used by the end consumer, who uses our impartial perspective, our deep dives into technical information and the voice of fellow customers to inform their choices. They are designed to give consumers the ability to make better financial decisions and commend the industry for excellence in product creation, communication best practice, fair charges and strong service.

We award Best Buy and Best For Awards based on a rigorous five-point methodology, assessing costs and charges, testing of customer service response times, reviews of the key features providers offer to customers, reviews from real customers, and our own analysis based on our test accounts.

Our Specialist Award Categories Return

In 2025, we continued our specialist awards that were judged by an expert panel. Firms entered these awards based on the criteria below.

The Paul Bradshaw Innovation Award 2025

This award recognises leading innovation in the wealth, investment and pensions sector in 2024. This innovation should have demonstrably made consumers’ lives better and stood out in the market for breaking new boundaries.

It could be tech-related, or represent innovation in functionality, pricing, engagement, apps, websites, content or other.

Vulnerable Customer Support Award 2025

Following great response from our readers, and some truly remarkable work by the industry, we looked to recognise firms which excelled in supporting vulnerable customers in 2024.

The judges looked for a firm that went the extra mile in thinking about how to improve outcomes for vulnerable customers.

These projects could have been very targeted and specific, or more general, but should have evidenced how they led to better outcomes.

Best Client Communication Award 2025

Consumer communications were thrust back into the spotlight by Consumer Duty, and there is a lot of work to be done here! We introduced a dedicated award to recognise excellence in client communication, to acknowledge those firms which have made huge progress and delivered great content and comms in 2024. The judges looked for examples of client communications which were clear, easy to understand and informed and engaged a consumer, enabling better choices and better customer outcomes.
